Remaining carrying capacity of a traffic sign bridge

Starting situation

The upper chord of the crossbar bulged out during the time. To reinforce the aluminium plate an additional stiffener was attached. After a while also the stiffener bulged out and the deflections increased.

What we die

We had to give an expertise for the remaining carrying capacity of the cross section and had to review the existing calculation of the traffic sign bridge to be able to define the problem leading to the bulged cross section. We also inspected the bridge to ensure the conditions.
